No.8 Simpson Softball Crush La Sierra

REDDING, Calif.- The Red Hawks Softball team were in vintage form on Friday when the hosted a league double header vs. the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University winning both games, 8-0 and 7-0.

Red Hawk starter Carlye Avey got more than enough run support as the offense score three in the first inning first from a Kristin Beckmann single to score Kaylana Mah and Madison Wright then when Emily Powers walked with the bases loaded scoring Courtney Thomas.

In the bottom of the second the Red Hawks added two more when Mah and Wright scored on a Thomas double to make it 5-0 Red Hawks.

In the bottom of the fourth the Red Hawks delivered the knockout blow when Thomas and Wright scored this time in a Kara Wall single and Beckman would score on a error to make it 8-0. Avey would slam the door shut in the top of the 5th and the Red Hawks would cruise to victory in 5 inning.

Avey had the complete game shutout out allowing just 3 hits with 7 strikeouts. Mah, Thomas, Wall and Beckman all had 2 hits each with Wright going 1-1 with 3 runs scored.

In game two the Red Hawk again scored fast this time four times in the top of the first when Mah scored on an error, Wright and Thomas scoring on a Beckman single and Rachel Esse's Sac Bunt scoring Bailey Akins.

Paris Hallums did her part shutting down the Golden Eagle offense holding them to just 3 hits in the game.

In the fourth inning the Red Hawks added two to their tally on a Akins single which scored Wright and then Beckman single to score Rachel Last.

The final run came in the sixth inning on an Akins double to left which scored Missy Silveira.

Hallums went the distance allowing just the 3 hits striking out 8 batters.

Bailey Akins was 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored with Beckman also going 2-3 with 2 RBI.

The Red Hawks will take their 23-3 record down south to Fullerton, Calif. when they will take on the Royals from Hope International University on Tuesday, March 29th at 9am.
