REDDING, Calif. --
Hailee Nichols was a walk and an error away from perfection Saturday; leading Simpson to a 2-0 lead over the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers.
Nichols would need just 96 pitches to dispatch the Mountaineers while striking out 4 and walking just the one. This was the second no-no in Red Hawk history; Nichols' teammate, Kacey Pokorrney, through no-hitter last February against Northwest Christian but the game would only last 5 innings due to a 8 run rule as the Red Hawks went on to win 8-0.Â
The Red Hawks would put up just 5 hits of their own scoring a run in the first and then again the the bottom of the 6th on a wild pitch.Â
Simpson bounced back after losing 12-6 to Corban University on Friday morning and look to start a new winning streak as they compete in the annual Simpson Softball Invitational.
