UBC bullpen holds Red Hawks to two runs

VANCOUVER, B.C.- The Red Hawks headed north of the border on Saturday to take on the Thunderbirds from the University of British Columbia. Thunderbird pitching held the Red Hawks to just two runs in the day as the Red Hawks dropped both games, 6-0 and 10-2.

In game one the Humberto Solorio started the game strong holding the Thunderbirds to just two hits through three innings. UBC would finally get to Solorio in the fourth inning scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead.

The Thunderbirds would add two more in the sixth and seventh inning to take a 6-0 lead which would be more than enough Thunderbird starter Alex Webb would only allowed 3 hits in a complete game to earn the win. Solorio was the loser allowing 6 runs on 10 hits in 8 innings of work.

In game two the Red Hawk drew first blood in the top of the first when Dylan Mumford singled to right field to score Cody Coggins. The lead would be short lived however, as the Thunderbirds scored four times in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead.

In the bottom of the second the Thunderbirds were at it again matching the four runs they scored in the first with four more to make it 8-1 after two innings.

The Red Hawks got one back in the top of the seventh on a Geroge Cecchetti single scoring Garrett Yoder. In the bottom half of the inning the Thunderbirds capped off the scoring with two more runs to secure the 10-2 win

Red Hawk starter James Humphrey gets the loss giving up 6 runs on 4 hits in one plus innings of work.

The Red Hawks will finish the series on April 3, in a double header starting at 11am.
