Red Hawks drop two in British Columbia

VANCOUVER, BC. - The Simpson University baseball team concluded their NAIA West series with University of British Columbia, dropping two games on Sunday 5-3 and 9-0.

Game 1 - UBC 5, SU 3
In the first inning, SU would  score first when Aaron Curfman hit a double to center field, which allowed Kyle Ferguson to score. Blaine Hokama would hit a single up the middle and allowed Kenneth Sellers to score for an early 2-0 lead. Simpson would score another run in the fourth off a single to right field by Cody Jamerson that allowed Matthew Kiyota to score and give the Red Hawk a 3-0 headed in the bottom of the fourth. 

UBC would score in the next three innings, one run in both the fifth and sixth and three runs in the seventh, to give them a 5-3 lead. SU was unable to respond back and dropped game one 5-3. 

Robert Bristol was credited with the loss. Bristol pitched 2.2 innings allowing two hits and three runs. Cody Coggins started the game off for the Red Hawks, he pitcthed 5.1 innings allowing five hits, two runs and struck out four batters.

Curfaman and Hokama went 1-4 from the plate with a RBI. Jamerson was 2-4 and a RBI.

Game 2 - UBC 9, SU 0
The Thunderbirds would jump on the Red Hawks early taking a 8-0 lead in the second inning. SU was unable to stage a comeback and dropped game two 9-0.

Eric Schreter was credited the loss, pitching 1.1 innings. Schreter allowed six hits and eight runs. Garrett Yoder pitched 4.2 innings and allowed two hits and give up one run. Ryan King finished the game pitching 2.2 innings giving up one hit.

Curfman went 1-3 from the plate. Dylan Mumford and Rath Moseley both were 1-4 and Casey Meyer was 1-2 from the plate.

The Red Hawks will travel up to Klamath Falls, OR to face Oregon Tech on April 9 and 10. First pitch on Saturday, April 9 is set for noon.
