College: Root is entering his second season playing baseball for the Red Hawks.

High School: Root played three years of varsity baseball at Red Bluff High School, where he also played football. His athletic accomplishments include making it to the section championship his junior year (2013) and being selected to play on the Lion’s All-Star Team in 2014. He played club baseball for the South County Sun Devils and the Redding Tigers.

Personal: Chase is the son of Lance and Heidi Root. His hobbies include snowboarding, hunting, fishing, and long-boarding.

Reason for coming to Simpson: "I chose Simpson because it has a reputation as a great school, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get my education from Simpson. It is also a religious school, and I also have a very strong faith and am religious."
