Warriors sweep Red Hawks in season series

REDDING, Calif.- The Red Hawks started the new year looking to start a winning streak at 2 games when the hosted the rival Warriors from William Jessup University on Saturday night. The Warriors would hand the Red Hawks a bitter defeat 77-68.

The Red Hawks started off the game strong when Josh Brakkee put them up 18-8 at the first media timeout. The Warriors would storm back out of the timeout going on a 19-2 run to seize the lead lead by the out standing play of Corey Clement. The Warriors would finish off the half strong taking a 12 point advantage into the break, 42-30. Clement had 16 in the half as the Warriors were also aided by strong free throw shooting going 12 for 13 in the half.

In the second half the Warriors picked up where the left off as they would slowly build up the lead to as many as 19 points with 2:43 to play in the game this time lead by Guillermo Nunez. The Red Hawks would surge late cutting the lead down to as little as 8 points but it proved to be too little too late and the Warriors would finish it off, 77-68.

Nunez led all scorers with 19 points to go along with his 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Clement finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

The Red Hawks were led by Joseph Bosetti who had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Brakkee added 12 points and Marc Kirkland and Jacob Kaler each added 10 points in the losing effort.

The Red Hawks will now turn their attention to the Cal Pac Conference on Thursday, Jan. 7th where they will open up their conference schedule against the Bobcats from UC Merced at 7:30pm.
