College: Kirkland is entering his fourth season playing for the Red Hawks.

High School: Kirkland played three years of varsity basketball at Natomas High School, where he also played baseball. He received first team all-Tri County Conference honors. He played club basketball for Spirit Got Game.

Personal: Marc is the son of Marc Kirkland Sr. and Lisa Kirkland. He is opening his own business and is a basketball trainer. His nickname is "smoothandle". His favorite athletes are Floyd Mayweather, Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Mike Bibby, Derek Jeter, and Kyrie Irving. He likes watching boxing and basketball. His career goal is to open his own sports complex.

Reason for coming to Simpson: "I chose Simpson because I wanted to not only pursue my basketball career but to come to a greater relationship with God."
