KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Red Hawks softball team picked up play today in a midweek nonconference matchup against #2 in the nation Oregon Tech.
A leadoff single by
Nicolena Holen put Simpson in business as she moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by
Alyssa Valdez.
However, the Owls stranded the leadoff single to keep the game scoreless.
OIT jumped on starter
Hallie Prather for three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early 3-0 lead.
This proved to be all the runs the Owls needed as they held the Simpson offense to just two hits before extending and taking the first game of the day 7-0.
However, the Red Hawks drew first blood in the first inning of the second game as a leadoff walk to
Alyssa Blanco came around to score on an RBI double into right-center by
Hollee Jamison.
The Owls answered back as they scored in three consecutive innings to begin the game as they took the commanding 11-1 lead.
The Red Hawks plated one run in the top of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Jamison.
However, the Owls doubled up the Red Hawks base runner between second and third base to end the game in run-rule fashion.
Simpson has a bye this weekend and looks to conclude its regular season play next week as they host La Sierra beginning Thursday.
