Lujan dazzles in the circle, Red Hawks offense explodes for 20 runs to complete the twin-bill sweep

REDDING, California. - The Red Hawks softball squad kicked off its final four-game series of the season against La Sierra today.

Back-to-back hits to begin the game on a leadoff single by Nicolena Holen followed by a perfectly ran hit and run by Kayley Vaillette put two runners in scoring position. 

Brianna Lopez-Cortez drove home the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly to deep left field followed by an RBI infield single by Hollee Jamison to give Simpson the early 2-0 lead. 

The Red Hawks offense continued to roll as back-to-back singles to begin the bottom of the second inning by Morgynn Wylie and Jessica Heck put early traffic aboard. 

Vaillette picked up the clutch two-out RBI single to extend Simpson's lead to 3-0. 

The Red Hawks put up a crooked number in the bottom of the third inning as back-to-back singles to begin the inning by Lopez-Cortez and Jamison helped set up a two-run double by Madyson Welch. 

Jordan Adami picked up a sacrifice fly while Vaillette and Kassandra Soria notched RBI singles to move Simpson into the run-rule territory. 

Starter Jacquelyn Lujan had it working as she mowed down the Golden Eagles lineup and fired the five-inning no-hitter to preserve the 9-0 game-one victory. 

Vaillette and Jamison led the Simpson bats in game one as they combined for a perfect 6-6 as they each went 3-3 while combining for three RBIs. 

Game 2: 

The Golden Eagles drew first blood in game two as they plated one run in the first inning. 

However, the Red Hawks offense continued to dazzle as they answered back for a six spot in the bottom half of the inning. 

A leadoff hit by pitch to Holen came around to score on an RBI single by Lopez-Cortez to get Simpson on the board. 

Samantha Diaz connected for a two-run double down the left field line followed by a RBI single by Jessica Heck and capped off by a RBI single by Holen as the Red Hawks batted around to take the 6-1 lead. 

The Golden Eagles chipped away in the top of the fourth inning as they plated two runs to cut the lead in half. 

But the Red Hawks got one-run back in the bottom half of the inning as Lopez-Cortez picked up an RBI single. 

Simpson closed the door in the bottom of the sixth inning in run-rule fashion as a leadoff single by Vaillette came around to score on an RBI double by Soria followed by an RBI double by Jamison. 

Heck picked up the walk-off hit as she singled back up the middle to score Wylie from second base to give Simpson the 11-3 victory. 

Starter Lily Rojas picked up the win as she tossed 5.0 innings while giving up just one earned run before Jessica Ulshoeffer came in relief for 1.0 inning of work. 

Heck led the Simpson bats in game two as she went 3-3 with two RBIs while Diaz, Vaillette, Soria, and Lopez-Cortez posted two-hit performances.
