Coach Derrick Pringle Jr. Moves On To Bethel College

REDDING, Calif. - Head Women's Basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director, Derrick Pringle Jr. has meant far more to the campus of Simpson University than just what took place on the court.

Coach Pringle has been involved in nearly every aspect of the campus from Spiritual Development, to Campus Life, to mentoring young men and women, whether they were on his team or not. And while his impact was definitely felt inside the Grant Center with the growth of the Simpson women's basketball program, his impact reached nearly everyone on campus.

Pringle was the longest-tenured coach at Simpson University, just finishing his 13th season in 2021. He has just announced that he will be the new Head Women's Basketball Coach at Bethel College in Kansas starting this summer.

Over his tenure, his basketball programs recorded an average GPA of 3.1 and he coached three NCCAA and NAIA All-Americans, six NCCAA All-West Region Players, and 23 All Cal-Pac players. In 2018, he recorded his 100th career win as a head coach at Simpson University.

Coach Pringle, a Simpson alum, was one of the hardest working employees on Simpson University's campus, often seen up well past 2 am studying film or preparing for the game or event ahead. As an Assistant Athletic Director, Pringle oversaw many coaches as well as game management and sports information.

A perfect example of how much of an impact Coach Pringle had is by taking a simple look at the relationships he continues to have with alumni from the past 13 years

For the many years of service given to Simpson University, to the Athletic Department, and the women's basketball program all we can say is, Thank you, Coach.
