ANGWIN, Calif. - The women's basketball team continues to roll in conference play as they moved to a perfect 5-0 on the season, taking down Pacific Union College 60-44.
A low-scoring first quarter saw the Red Hawks grab the 11-5 lead as
Andrea Perez anchored the offense with four points to go along with four rebounds.
The Pioneers tied the game at 15 midway through the second quarter before a layup by
Destiny Nichols, followed by a jumper by
Monet Dunham, gave Simpson the four-point lead, 19-15.
A three-pointer by the Pioneers at the end of the first half pulled PUC within three, but a counter three-pointer by Haly Garcia extended Simpson's lead to six as they headed into the half with a 29-25 lead.
Simpson dominated the Pioneers in the third quarter as they outscored PUC 25-57.
Anna Marshall had a huge third quarter as she notched 13 points while shooting 5-6 from the floor and being a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc.
The 22-point lead proved more than enough for the Red Hawks as they took the 60-44 victory.
Coming off a career game against UC Santa Cruz on Thursday, Marshall led the Simpson offense with 19 points.
Perez notched a double-double as she posted a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with 10 points.
Nichols rounded out the double-digit performances with 12 points and five rebounds.
