Softball Drops Two to No. 17 Vanguard

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Red Hawks were only able to manufacture one run in 16 innings in the combined two games against Vanguard.  Paris Hallums suffered from a walk-off single with the bases loaded in game one. Hailee Nichols took the mound for Simpson in game two and pitched brilliantly despite giving up the game's only run. Nichols allowed just two hits in eight and a third.

NOTABLE STATS:
-These losses snapped Simpson's 11 game win streak.
-On the year, Simpson has outscored opponents 152-64 on the year and 30-10 in the 1st inning.
-Madison Wright has now extended her hit streak to a career-high 17 games.
-Hailee Nichols threw 8.1 innings while only allowing two hits, one walk and one run while recording five strikeouts.
-Simpson has not been swept in a two game series all season long.
-Hallums records her 4th loss of the season despite only giving up two runs
-These are the first two games of the season where the Red Hawks have scored less than two runs.
