No.10 Simpson Softball sweep series with Antelope Valley

REDDING, Calif.- The Red Hawks were in action on Sunday when they completed a four game sweep of the Pioneers from the University of Antelope Valley, 3-0 and 6-0. The Red Hawks would hold the Pioneers scoreless in all four games over the weekend improving their season record to 32-4.

Carlye Avey was dominant again for the Red Hawks in game one as she didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning. Pioneer starter Tabitha Bayers also started strong as she was able to hold the Red Hawks to no runs until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Red Hawks would strike for three runs. 

Kaylana Mah would homer to lead off the bottom of the fifth and Kristin Beckman would follow that up with a two run homer of her own scoring Rachel Last to take a 3-0 lead.

Avey would only allow one more run in the game and finished the game off with a shut out. She allowed only 2 hits in 7 innings of work with 7 strikeouts.

The Red Hawk offense was strong with every batter getting at least one hit in the game as the team combined for 10 hits in the game headlined by Kristen Beckman who was 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

In game two the Red Hawks continued to dominate the Pioneers in every aspect of the game. Paris Hallums took the ball for the Red Hawks and threw another complete game shut out.

This time the Red Hawks scored early and often as Kara Wall's RBI single scored Madison Wright in the first inning to give the Red Hawks the early lead. In the second inning Jessica Dager's double scored Amanda Laughlin before Wright singled to right field scoring both Dager and Missy Silveira to make it 4-0.

In the fourth inning Missy Silveira scored on a error and in the fifth inning Bailey Akins capped off the scoring with a solo homer making it 6-0.

Hallums earns the win allowing 2 hits over 7 innings striking out 14 batters.

The Red Hawks will now travel to Arizona to take on the Embry-Riddle University Eagles on Friday, April 15th in a double header starting at 12pm.
