Redding, Calif.- The Red Hawks improved to 18-2 on the season on Sunday when they handed the Beacons from Northwest Christian University losses in both games of the double header taking game 1 5-4 and game two 8-0 in 5 innings.

Game one was a tightly contested affair with both teams scoring early. It was the Beacons breaking through in the top of the 1st inning scoring one on Red Hawk starter Amy Rodriguez. The Red Hawks would respond with two of their own in the bottom of the frame when Courtney Thomas and Kristin Beckman would both score on an Anita Singh error.

In the 2nd the Beacons answered back with one run to tie the game up at 2-2. The Red Hawk response would be swift again this time scoring three times in the bottom half of the frame. Jessica Dager would double to lead off the inning and then score on a Kaylana Mah double, Mah would score when Amanda Laughlin singled to second and Laughlin would score on another error from the Beacon defense making it 5-2 after 2 innings.

The Beacons would mount a rally in the top of the 7th scoring twice but the Red Hawks would hold on and secure the 5-4 win. Rodriguez earns the win allowing 2 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings. Offensively, Emily Powers was 2-2 with Beckman also adding 2 hits in the win.

In game two the Red Hawks would make fast work of the Beacons scoring in all for innings in which they batted. In the 1st inning they would score twice on a Bailey Akins single scoring Madison Wright and Taylor Hill. The Red Hawks would come back for four more in the 2nd inning first when Jessica Dager would score on an error and then Courtney Thomas would come up with a big three run homer to score Jaycie Bruno and Taylor Hill. In the 3rd inning Bruno was doing the damage at the plate as her single scored Emily Powers. The scoring would be capped off in the 4th inning when Thomas added another RBI this time on a single scoring Hill.

As for the pitching for the Red Hawks in the game it was a outstanding performance from Kacey Pokorny who would pitch all five inning not giving up a hit and walking 4 batter for the win. Hill was 3-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored with Thomas going 2-3 with 4 RBI and a run scored.
