SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - With a highly competitive field of 20 teams for both men and women, Simpson University's Cross Country team showcased its season's progress on a big stage.
From the first to the second race of the season, the Red Hawks saw significant improvements in their times, with some cutting minutes off their personal bests.
Freshman
Justin Montoya highlighted the men's side in the 8k as he placed 63rd out of 220 competitors and came away with a new pr of 26:34!
Cade Salsedo and
Matthew Viramontez also earned new lifetime personal bests, Salsedo, 27:03, an improvement of almost 40 seconds from last year, and Viramontez, 29:46!
Three women earned lifetime pr's in the women's 6k. Starting with
Jewelia Zaragoza, who continues her unbroken streak of pr'ing for the 6th time, continuing from last season with a time of 28:49!
Freshmen
Kezia Pierce and
Grace Balke followed suit with big personal records of their own, Pierce, 34:42 and Balke, 34:59, both reducing their times by over 3 minutes!
