SALEM, Ore. - The Red Hawks cross country teams went to Salem, Oregon, to test their strength against some of the top teams in the Northwest.
Leading the men's team,
Justin Montoya placed in the top 100 runners out of 288 individuals, claiming 81st and a new personal record of 25:50, breaking the 26-minute barrier.
Cade Salsedo was the team's second runner, earning a new blistering 40-second personal record, dropping into the low 26-minute range. Additionally, on the men's side,
Alexander Reusze took home his own impressive personal record, shaving off 20 seconds to break the 29-minute barrier.
Leading our women's team, freshman
Kylie Erickson followed suit by breaking the top 100 runners by earning 98th place. Simpson's second runner,
Kezia Pierce, ran a blazing 30-second personal record, which improves her track season best 5k time.
Nieva Parsons, following Pierce, also took home a new 5k personal record, encapsulating the general theme of this race. Visible team and personal progress for many of the Red Hawks this weekend on a big national stage, comprising nearly 30 or more teams.Â
