LAWRENCEVILLE, Geor. - The Simpson softball team ended its season today as they fell against Westcliff on the second day of the CAC conference tournament.
The West Coast battle took place in the second game of the day as severe thunderstorms earlier in the day caused a slight delay in the starting game time.
The Warriors drew first blood in the top of the third inning as they plated two runs off two hits.
Reliever,
Lily Rojas came into a bases-loaded jam before shutting the door on Westcliff as she induced an inning-ending 5-2-3 double play.
Simpson threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning as a leadoff single by
Madyson Welch and a two-out infield single by
Elyse Benson put runners on the corners with two outs.
However, the Westcliff starter surrendered an inning-ending flyout to end the threat and keep the Red Hawks off the scoreboard.
But the Warriors looked to put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth inning as they loaded the bases with no outs.
But Rojas settled down and allowed just one run thanks to an unassisted double play by second baseman
Samantha Diaz and a running catch toward the line by right fielder
Nicolena Holen.
However, the Red Hawks could not rally as they well to its Cal Pac rival 3-0 to close out the 2025 season.
Brianna Lopez-Cortez led the Simpson offense as she went a perfect 3-3 with three singles.
With the loss, Simpson says goodbye to four seniors;
Kayley Vaillette,
Jillian Walker,
Elyse Benson, and
Samantha Diaz as they head into the offseason.
