Red Hawks complete the sweep over Warner Pacific

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson softball team concluded its four-game series against Warner Pacific today in a twin-bill to conclude its preseason play. 

The Knights jumped on the board in the top of the first inning as they plated five runs before Simpson answered back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs. 

Brianna Lopez-Cortez picked up an RBI single to get Simpson on the board followed by a two-run double by Madyson Welch into left field. 

Simpson tied the game in the bottom of the third inning as they plated four runs on two big RBI doubles from Kayley Vaillette and Elyse Benson

The Red Hawks grabbed the lead in the fourth inning as Welch, Hollee Jamison, and Hallie Prather each picked up RBIs. 

Sophomore Lily Rojas came in relief of starter Jessica Ulshoeffer in the third inning and fired 4.2 innings of one-run ball to pick up her first win of the year. 

Soria, Vaillette, Welch, and Jamison each picked up two-hit performances as they combined for six RBIs. 



Game 2: 

The Red Hawks looked to complete the four-game sweep behind starter Jacquelyn Lujan

The Knights drew first blood in game two as they plated one run in the top of the first inning before the Red Hawks tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Lopez-Cortez. 

Simpson went on to score in the next four innings to take the commanding 8-1 lead at the end of five innings as Vaillette drove in three runs including a two-run single in the third inning. 

Lujan had it going as she earned the win by firing six innings of two-run ball while striking out seven Warner Pacific batters before handing the ball to Prather to close out the seventh inning. 

Lopez-Cortez had a big game as she posted a team-high three hits to go along with two RBIs. 

With the win, Simspon closes out its preseason going 7-6 as they played against some of the top teams in the nation. 

Simpson has a bye week as they resume play in SoCal as they begin conference play against Westcliff on March 7th in a doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
