LEWISTON, Idaho - The Red Hawks drove to Idaho as they participated in the Warrior Fall Invitational at the Lewiston Golf & Country Club to conclude their Fall play.
The men's team looked different as
Owen Winton and
Evan Molina made their first 1st team debut of the semester. They were joined by
Jack Kramer, Jake Gardner, and
Ethan Phillips.
Eight teams and 46 players took to the course. Simpson ended the first day in a tie for fifth with a score of 305 (+17).
Simpson's standout performer was Winton, who made four birdies in an efficient 73 (+1).
Phillips and Kramer were solid, as they both shot 76 (+4). Kramer sealed it with an eagle at 18, while Phillips traded birdies and bogeys.
Molina entered the clubhouse with an 80 (+8), and Gardner, who took a 12 on the par-5 second hole, faltered to an 84 (+12).
The men improved on day two, as they shot 300 (+12). Despite the solid play, they fell to sixth place.
Molina improved drastically as he shot a 75 (+3) to finish in 30th place.
"I still have a long way to go, but I am just going to trust the process. I am extremely grateful to Coach Deaver for taking me in and believing in my abilities," Molina said.
Kramer highlighted the Red Hawks, finishing 13th after a solid 72 (E) on the final day.
Gardner improved with a 76 (+4) as Phillips had much of the same with a 77 (+5).
Winton was unable to keep his form as a tough second day left him with an 87 (+15).
The girls finished fourth of eight with a score of 691 (+115). Idaho native Kaitlyn Miller soared into the top 10 once again as she finished 6th place of 38 with a score of 155 (+11).
Katelyn Cassinelli matched 85s for a top 20, finishing 19th with a score of 170 (+26).
Kiley Menne,
Emily Cabbiness, and
Addison Jones finished 20th, 31st, and 32nd, respectively.
"We finished out with some good scores from some powerful young individuals in the program," head coach Jason Deaver said.
The Red Hawks are done for the fall season and will have plenty of time before their first spring tournament, which is in Surprise, Arizona, on February 22.
As coach Deaver looks back at this tournament and the fall season, he understands that God should be at the forefront of everything.
"I'm looking forward to the spring. We need to do a lot more work on the wedges as they're the clubs that allow us to score in this game," Deaver continued.
"The most important thing is between our ears and really diving in over the break to find our path and what God's plan for us is. Even if we have a bad day on the course, we have already won because Jesus has died and risen again," Deaver concluded.
