CERRITOS, Calif. - The women's wrestling squad took part in the Cerritos Open hosted by Cerritos College this weekend. 

The Cerritos Open consisted of 10 other schools ranging from various clubs, junior colleges, and NAIA teams. 

The Red Hawks consisted of five place winners which included two first-place winners, one second-place winner, and two sixth-place winners. 

Aphrodite Ayala and Jacqueline Placenia each picked up first-place finishes, Ayala in the 103 lb class and Placenia in the 110 lb class. 

Clarissa Cabrera had another strong showing as she placed second in the 131 lb class. 

Joy Jeremiah and Bianca Pesole each picked up sixth-place finishes. Jeremiah in the 131 lb class and Pesole in the 207 lb class. 

The women's squad earned a fifth-place finish out of 12 other teams entered in the open. 

The Red Hawks look to be back in action this coming weekend in the Menlo Open.
