Simpson Takes The Series Against Cal State Eastbay

HAYWARD, Calif. - The baseball team won the rubber match game today against D2 opponent Cal State Eastbay 10-7 to claim the series victory.

The Red Hawks got off to a hot start as they plated five runs in the first inning on four hits and one Pioneer error.

A one-out single by Titus Sato followed by a walk to Dominic Folks set up early traffic for the Red Hawks.

Maximiliano Lopez continued to stay hot in the series as he pounded a two-RBI double in the left-center gap that scored Sato and Folks.

Brady Meeds tallied the other two runs on a bases-loaded two-RBI single that scored Micah Kele and Alex Tolbert

The Red Hawks scratched another run in the top of the third inning after a Kele single came around to score on an RBI double by Tolbert.

However, the Pioneer bats got to starter Garrett Brogdon in the third inning by scoring four runs.

The Pioneers chipped away and tied the game at six in the bottom of the fifth inning on back-to-back sacrifice flies.

A Jaxon Hotta walk followed by a pull-side two-run bomb by Brady Meeds highlighted the inning for the Red Hawks.

Eastbay scratched across one run in the bottom half of the inning to pull within one, 8-7.

The Red Hawks added two more insurance runs in the top of the eighth inning.
