REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University Men's basketball team begins a new era under first-year Head Coach David Cone. The addition of 18 new players with a combination of two new skillful coaches should be very exciting for a program that adds to the already talented Red Hawks crew. 

The 18 new Red Hawks are: 
Quintin Richardson: A 5'10" guard from Chula Vista, CA attended Victory Christian Academy. According to coach Cone, "He is a good on ball defender."

Maxwell Wheeler: A 6'1" guard from North Star High School in Idaho who is looking to thrive in the smaller school environment that Simpson has to offer. 

Brandon Blair: A 6'0" guard from St. John Bosco in Southern California spent last year at Ascending Life Preparatory in Arizona. 

Kellen Torrey: A 5"11" guard from San Ramon, CA attended California High School. He looks to make an immediate impact in his collegiate career as he helped lead his high school team to the best season in history. He averaged 15 ppg and 5 assists while being a solid defender. 

Sean Rodriguez: A 6'0" guard from Houston, TX attended Memorial High School and comes to Simpson with prior connections with its current players as he looks to gel and work well with his new teammates. 

Parker Martens: A 6'3" guard from Canada who attended Edge School looks to bring size to the guard position as he played on the "Grind Session" and helped his team defeat several top teams.

Jace Mills: A 6'7" juco transfer forward from Linn Benton College looks to bring size to the middle of the court as he continues to grow and develop in coach Cone's program. 

Garrett Streufert: A 6'7" forward transferring from Southwest Baptist will look to add size and strength to the paint. 

Osumanu Nuhu: A 6'4" juco transfer forward from Diablo Valley College looks to bring defense and boards to the 2024 team. 

Joshua Allen: A 6'4" juco transfer forward from Modesto Junior College will look to bring board, boards, and more boards to the lineup as he was ranked second in the state for rebounds per game (15.1).  

Sam Shields: A 6'4 juco transfer forward from American River College will be a grinder as he strives to help the Red Hawks in any way possible. 

Damien Martinez: Martinez had stops at Rio Hondo Junior College and Ottowa University but seemed to found a home here at Simpson University. 

Derek Gorden: A homegrown 6'3" juco transfer guard from Red Bluff, CA attended Shasta College before signing his letter of intent to Simpson University. 

Lucas Bowser: A 6'3" graduate transfer guard from Cascade Conference rival Bushnell University. He will look to cash in his fifth year at Simpson University as he pursues his Masters Degree. 

The two newest coaches:

The two assistants:
Coach Jordan Spaschak and Coach Matt Doyon will also join the bench for David Cone's first year at the helm. Spaschak is a Redding native, playing at Shasta College, and was most recently an assistant coach at Enterprise High School. Doyon has been coaching and training basketball players for over 20 years most notably as an assistant coach at Archbishop Mitty High School.

The 2023-24 Red Hawks will have a completely new coaching staff and many new players as the new era of Simpson men's basketball begins.
