Box Score REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks were shifted back home due to Oregon's poor air quality. The game was set to take place yesterday in Klamath Falls, OR at 3:30 PM but was rescheduled for today at Simpson's home field at 2 PM.
The scorching heat raged on as the game-time temperature was nearly 100 degrees. The Red Hawks came out of the gates firing as sophomore
Iris Van Dalfsen registered a shot on goal in the opening minute but was saved by OIT's keeper. Simpson out shot the Owls, 12-9 and was constantly on the attack. The closest goal came in the 30th minute of the first half when newcomer
Yisel Ybarra fired a shot that was defended twice by the Oregon Tech goalie.
After her strong play in the post over the past few games and earning nominations as Cal Pac Defender of the week, sophomore
Brianna Whitehurst was given the start and tallied three saves. Junior
Kiah Gridley came in relief in the second half to record three saves of her own to preserve the clean sheet on the day.
The Red Hawks have shown grit as they played three tough cascade opponents. Simpson is scheduled to hit the road and take on D2 opponent Humboldt State this Saturday at 2 P.M. in a exhibition game.
