Simpson Closes out the Holidays Against D2 Opponents

The men's basketball team battled hard but ultimately fell against two top D2 programs over the past week.

On Saturday they took on Cal State Eastbay in Hayward, CA.

CSUEB proved to be lethal en route to a 91-49 victory over the Red Hawks.

Winners of five straight games, the Pioneers are currently receiving votes in the latest D2 coaches poll.

Freshman guard Parker Martens had a nice game with a team-high 11 points and five rebounds.

Senior guard Kevin Robello followed close behind with eight points which included two buckets from beyond the arc.

Simpson would hit the road and battle #25 in the nation Chico State University on Tuesday at Art Acker Gymnasium in Chico, CA.

Drey Ubas would be the sharpshooter from downtown as he nailed three long balls for a team-high nine points to go along with three steals.

Sam Shields was a workhorse in the paint as he scooped up 12 rebounds while registering eight points on the night.

However, the Wildcats showed why they are one of the best as they defeated the Red Hawks 85-55.

Chico State is currently ranked 25th in the nation in the latest coaches poll but was ranked as high as #10 in the previous poll.

Simpson will look to rebound back home against William Jessup on December 30th at 4:30 PM.
