Simpson Softball Ends Season with 4-1 Loss to No. 1 OCU

Oklahoma City, OKLA. - Simpson University softball's outstanding season comes to a close with a 4-1 loss to OKC in the Opening Round of the NAIA Softball Championship.

The Red Hawks would have had to beat OKC, the number one team in the country, twice to advance to the NAIA World Series.

Paris Hallums was extremely solid early on in the first two innings, striking out five of her nine in the first seven batters.

In the 3rd inning, Hallums ran into trouble with a hit by pitch that would come around to score on a two run homerun by Kali Pugh to give the Stars a 2-0 advantage. The Simpson ace had the bases loaded against her in three straight innings and escaped twice, but paid the price in the 5th when a single from Samantha Stallbaumer brought in two more runs and extend the Stars lead to 4-0.

Simpson had its chances and even had a runner on in every inning, but was unable to string any hits together. The Red Hawks only offense came from a solo bomb in the 6th inning from Kayla Bailey to cut the lead to 4-1. Simpson did not have enough offense to scratch across any more runs.

OKC's ace, Georgia Wall improves to 29-0 on her season as Oklahoma City advances to the NAIA World Series to defend its title from last season.

The Red Hawks in 2017 recorded a program record 45 wins and took home the Cal Pac regular season title and tournament championship.
