Simpson University baseball loses series two games to one against Marymount. In game 2 of the series, the Red Hawks were able to push across a run in the top of the 9th inning to tie the game, but the Mariners answered with a walk-off homerun from Randy Rubio. In game 3, Simpson exploded offensively scoring 11 runs on 18 hits. The Red Hawks scored six runs in the 3rd inning and four insurance runs in the 8th inning propelling Simpson to an 11-7 victory.
NOTABLE STATS:
Game 3's 11 runs was the second most the Red Hawks have scored all year and only the second double digit run game of the season.
The 18 hits recorded in game 3 was the season-high for Simpson in 2017 and is the most hits in a game since April 27th 2013.
Game 2's walk-off by Marymount was the third walk-off against Simpson in conference play.
The six runs scored in the 3rd inning of the series finale was only the second time the Red Hawks have scored six runs in an inning all season.
Chase Dillon recorded his second 3 hit game of the year with a 3-6 performance in game 3.
Casey Meyer knocked in a season-high four runs going 3-5 in game 3.
Kuhn, Kessel, and Yoder each brought in two runs in the 11 run attack in game 3.
