MESA, Ariz. - Simpson University baseball fell to the Redhawks of Benedictine University, 8-7.

This was the first time Simpson has faced Benedictine and also was the Cal Pac Opener.  Cody Coggins started on the bump for Greg Cadaret's club, getting a no decision while completing six innings of work allowing four runs and striking out nine. Derick Kuhn and Aaron Curfman were swinging the hot bats for the Red Hawks combining for five hits. Curfman knocked in three runs on an inside the park homerun in the 3rd inning and doubled in the 8th inning. Unfortunately, Simpson allowed four runs in the bottom of the 9th inning including a walk-off sacrifice fly hit by Travis Hunt.
