Simpson Seniors play their final home game at Tiger Field

REDDING, Calif.- The Red Hawks finished their regular season schedule on Sunday when they completed a double header with the Warriors from Lewis-Clark State College. The Warriors continued their dominance over the Red Hawks sweeping the series with two more wins, 17-1 and 9-7. It was also senior day for the Red Hawks who honored their seniors playing in their final home game; Casey Meyer, Humberto Solorio, Dylan Mumford, Ryan King, George Cecchetti and Matthew Kiyota.

In game one the Red Hawks sent Robert Bristol to the mound to try and stifle the Warrior offense. Unfortunately, for the Red Hawks the Warriors continued their hot offensive performances with five runs in the first, four runs in the third and five more in the fourth to jump out to a 14-0 lead. The Red Hawks would get one back in the bottom of the fifth when Cody Jamerson scored Jarrett Kirby on a double.

It would be the only run the Red Hawks could manage in the game as the Warriors added three more to secure the 17-1 win.

In game two the Red Hawks sent Ryan Holmes to the mound and the Warriors would get to him in the second inning for a run but he would settle down and hold them to just the run in the first four frames.

The Red Hawks offense would take the lead in the bottom of the frame when they scored three times on a Matthew Kiyota Sac Fly and a two RBI single from Kenny Sellers to score Dylan Mumford and Coryn Iwamasa to take a 3-1 lead.

The Warriors would strike right back in the fifth for one run and one more in the sixth inning to tie it up at 3-3. They would then take a 7-3 lead after the top of the eight.

Then it was the Red Hawks turn to rally when Dylan Mumford started things off with a solo homer. Kiyota doubled to deep center field to score Iwamasa then Derrick Kuhn scored Kiyota on a RBI single to make it 7-6 Warriors heading to the top of the ninth.

In the ninth the Warriors added two more runs and the Red Hawks only were able to add one more on a Ryan King Sac Fly leaving the the rally just short and falling 9-7.
