Simpson Baseball drops two at home against Corban

REDDING, Calif.- The Red Hawks returned home on Saturday to take on the Warriors from Corban University. The Warriors offense would explode and they would coast to easy victories in both games winning game one 23-3 and game two 8-3.

Game 1 - Corban 23, SU 3 
The Red Hawks would send Humberto Solorio to the mound vs. Connor Mattison for the Warriors. The Warriors would score three times in the first to take an early lead. The Red Hawks would claw back in the second scoring twice when Dylan Mumford scored on an error and Rath Moseley would score on a ground out. They would tie it up in the third inning when Kenneth Sellers scored on an error to make it 3-3 after three. The Warriors would score at least four runs in each of the last three innings including a ten run fifth inning to blow away the Red Hawks 23-3.

Game 2 - Corban 8, SU 3
The Red Hawk starter was Cody Coggins. Coggins was able to keep the Warriors off the board through three innings until they would finally get the breakthrough in the fourth inning. The Red Hawks would answer back to tie it up in the bottom of the frame when Blaine Hokama would score on a wild pitch.

In the fifth inning the Warriors added three more runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Red Hawks would get one back in the bottom of the fifth when Chase Root scored on a ground out and then they would bring themselves within one run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Mumford scored on a ground out to make it 4-3. The Warriors would close out the game strong scoring three times in the eighth inning and once more in the final frame to win it 8-3.

The Red Hawks will hope for better results Sunday, April 17th, when they complete the series with a double header beginning at 11am out at Tiger Field.
