Simpson Baseball swept by Oregon Tech in NAIA West Series

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Simpon University baseball team fell to Oregon Tech in the final day of the NAIA West series doubleheader, 8-0 and 12-2. 

Game 1 - OIT 8, SU 0
Oregon Tech controlled the entire first game holding SU to only five hits. The Red Hawks gave up eight runs and on 12 hits.

Zachary Morgan earned the loss, pitching 4.0 innings. Morgan allowed nine hits and six runs. Ryan Holmes finished the game pitching 4.0 innings allowing three hits and two runs.

Game 2 - OIT 12, SU 2
In game two, the Hustlin' Owls would take an early 1-0 lead headed into the top of the second. SU would respond when Rath Moseley grounded out for a RBI allowing Aaron Curfman to score and tie the game 1-1. 

Oregon Tech would score 11 runs the next three innings to increase their lead 12-1 as they enter the seventh inning. The Red Hawks would score their last run in the top of the seventh when George Cecchetti hit a single that allowed Kenneth Sellers to score. Simpson was unable to contiue their rally, as Oregon Tech closed the game on a ground out to short to seal the vicotry 12-2.

Garrett Yoder received the loss, pitching 4.1 innings. Yoder allowed 10 hits, nine runs and struckout two batters. Eric Schreter pitched 0.2 innings, giving up three hits and two runs. Austin Ruffner closed the game pitching 1.0 innings, giving up one hit.

Cecchetti and Moseley each recorded a RBI. Jarrett Kirby went 2-3 from the plate.

The Red Hawks return back to action April 16 for a NAIA West home series with Corban University at Tiger Field. First game of the doubleheader will start Saturday at noon.
