Flames Complete Series Sweep of Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif.-The Red Hawks baseball team were in action on Thursday where they were looking to avenge two 1 run losses to the Flames from Bethesda University of California on Wednesday. It wouldn't go the Red Hawks way as the Flames completed the three game sweep of the Red Hawks with a 6-1 win.

Zachary Morgan was the starting pitcher for the Red Hawks taking on Oscar Munoz for the Flames. After walking the first two batters of the game Morgan found his way out of a minor jam allowing no hits in the top half of the 1st.

The Flames did find their way on the board in the top of the 2nd inning when they scored twice, first from a Kevin Maxey sac bunt and then on a balk by Morgan.

Morgan would then settle down and put up a couple of zeros in the 3rd and 4th inning allowing just one hit. Unfortunately, the Flames would score 3 more times in the 5th inning to extend their lead to 5-0.

Red Hawk shortstop Kyle Ferguson would bring home the Red Hawks only run of the game in the bottom of the 5th when Matthew Kiyota scored on the Ferguson single to left field to make it 5-1.

The Flames would respond with 1 more run in the top of the 6th to cap of the scoring in the game.

Morgan gets hit with the loss for the Red Hawks in the game allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits in 4.2 innings. Jarrett Kirby was 2-4 on the day and Ferguson was 1-3 with a RBI offensively for the Red Hawks.

The Red Hawks will look to get in the win column on Saturday when they are next in action at home against the Thunderbirds from the University of British Columbia at 12pm.
