Simpson Drops a Pair to Oregon Tech

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson dropped a pair of games Sunday to Oregon Tech in a baseball doubleheader at Tiger Field. The Owls posted wins of 11-2 and 2-1, respectively.

Game One
Oregon Tech scored twice in the fifth and four more times in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead and control of the opening game of the twin bill. Robert Bristol went 4.0 innings in his first start of the season and took the loss on the mound. Casey Meyer was 3-4 including a solo home run for the Red Hawks. He drove in both runs.

Game Two
With Simpson holding a 1-0 lead through five innings riding a quality performance from pitching starter Humberto Solorio, the Owls scored runs on a wild pitch and a throwing error on a pickoff attempt at first base to post the 2-1 victory. Solorio went 7.0 strong innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six. Zane Medeiros suffered the loss in an inning of relief in the eighth when his throw to first went awry with another runner at third base to give OIT the lead.

Rath Moseley's sacrifice fly accounted for the only Simpson run in the fifth. Coryn Iwamasa recorded a pair of hits. The Red Hawks tallied five hits for the game.

Simpson plays host the Bethesda in a three-game series beginning Wednesday with a doubleheader at Tiger Field. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
