EUGENE, Ore. - Simpson University women's basketball falls in overtime thriller to Northwest Christian University, 82-75.
The Red Hawks led by 5 with 23 seconds remaining, but were not able to close the game out. The Beacon's Monique Thompson cut the lead to 2 with a three. Simpson then only could knock down 1 of 2 free throws. On the final possession of regulation, Northwest Christian found Jenna Christenson for the game tying shot to send the game into overtime.
The Beacons caught fire in overtime shooting 4-5 from the field pushing the game out of reach.
Simpson received 20 point games from the backcourt of
Kelsie Jurin and
Esther Wofford.
Whitney Rodriguez recorded 12 points and 8 rebounds, but fouled out in the overtime period.
The Beacons received a dominating performance from Monique Thompson who tallied 27 points knocking down 10 of 20 shots from the field.
The Red Hawks slip to 5-9 and has now lost 3 straight.
Simpson will have a 2 week break before beginning conference play at home against Embry-Riddle University on December 17th at 5:30 pm in the Grant Center.
