REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women's basketball finishes strong in overtime, beating Embry-Riddle, 67-62.
The Red Hawks open up conference play with a victory in dramatic fashion after coming back from being down by as much as 11 in the second half.
The story of the first half was the guard play from the Eagles, led by Danae Ruiz with 26 first half points outscoring Simpson's entire team for the first 20 minutes.
The Red Hawks relied on their seniors to lead the charge in the second half. Â
Whitney Rodriguez had a monster game with 22 points and 14 rebounds and
Esther Wofford added 21 points and 9 boards of her own.
Simpson now finds themselves in a 3-way tie for first place in the Cal Pac Conference with Benedictine and Antelope Valley at 1-0.
Simpson University will look ahead to the facing the Redhawks from Benedictine on Monday, December 19th at 5:00 pm in the James M. Grant Center.
