REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women's basketball fell at home to the Benedictine University at Mesa Redhawks, 79--67.
Benedictine was in control from the tip and extended the lead to 19 in the fourth quarter. The Redhawks were quarterbacked by a strong performance from Erica Vasquez, who shot a prolific 9-13 from the floor, finishing with 28 points, five assists and five rebounds. BenU also knocked down 24-28 free throws, shooting above 85 percent on the night.
Simpson struggled from beyond the arc, finishing 4 of 18 from distance and shooting 38 percent for the game from the floor. The Red Hawks were led once again by
Esther Wofford who tallied 20 points, four rebounds, and four steals.
Brea Carter added nine points and eight rebounds off the bench for Simpson.
The Red Hawks fall to 1-1 in the Cal Pac Conference and will not compete again until December 30th, as they take on Pacific University at 7 pm in the Grant Center.
