REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women's basketball pulls out a close 66-60 win over Pacific University.
The Red Hawks resumed their season after a two week break during the Christmas holiday. Simpson began the night with a 9-0 run that was preceded by a Boxer timeout.
Simpson led most of the evening, but found themselves trailing by 7 with five minutes remaining. With a pair of free throws from
Whitney Rodriguez followed by a 3-point play from
Esther Wofford, the Red Hawks began their comeback. Simpson received huge threes from
Imani Joseph and
Fallon Greenhaw down the stretch propelling them to victory.
Simpson was led by
Esther Wofford, who finished with a team-high 19 points. The Boxers had the game's leading scorer in Sarah Curl, who ended with 28 points and 9 rebounds.
The Red Hawks also got help from
Fallon Greenhaw, who netted three shots from downtown. Rodriguez tallied 10 points in just 13 minutes.
Simpson improves to 7-10 on the campaign with the win.
The Red Hawks will look to end 2016 with a bang as they face Pacific University on New Years Eve at 2 pm in the James M. Grant Center.
