Men's Hoops Struggles at Southern Oregon in Flagship Classic

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Simpson men's basketball team fell Sunday at Southern Oregon, 85-54, in the final game of the Flagship Inn Classic. The Red Hawks could not overcome a 37-9 run by the Raiders to open the first eight minutes of the second half, and the game was never in question afterwards. SU trailed 36-28 at the intermission.

SOU forced 17 Simpson turnovers and coverted those into a 26-12 advantage and also dominated the paint outscoring the Red Hawks, 52-26. The SU offense struggled from the floor shooting just 30 percent for the game and 21 percent from behind the arc. Meanwhile, the hosts shot 55 percent from the floor and 44 percent from deep.

Josh Brakkee led Simpson with 15 points. Sam Siler added 10. Leading scorer Jacob Kaler was held to 1-13 shooting and scored seven points against his former team.

The Red Hawks return to action Tuesday, Nov. 3 against William Jessup in Rocklin, Calif. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
