REDDING, Calif. - The women's volleyball team took down West Coast Baptist tonight in straight sets: 25-10, 25-8, and 25-10.
With the win, Simpson pushes its season-best win streak to four games. The Red Hawks took all three sets convincingly as they never trailed in the entire game.
The Red Hawks dominated the entire game as they hit .470 as a team.
Mariah Napoleon,
Louise Oliveira, and
Maggie Warden each posted three kills in the first set, while
Kimora McKechnie posted two kills and an ace, and
Tiara Manns notched two aces and a kill.
Simpson kept rolling as they had their finest performance in the second set as they hit .588 as a team while holding the Eagles to just eight points. 12 unanswered points help tilt the second set in favor of the Red Hawks as McKechnie anchored the run with four service aces.
Back-to-back kills by Mans sealed the second set victory as the Red Hawks grabbed the commanding 2-0 match lead.
The Eagles trailed by three points early before the Red Hawks went on a set-changing 12-1 run to take the 16-5 lead as five different players registered a kill:
Olivia Ferguson,
Caitlin Miller, Oliveira, McKechnie, and Warden.
The final point of the night came on a double block by Warden and
Elizabeth Heath to close out the 25-10 third set victory to take the match in straight sets.
Maggie Warden led the team with 10 kills to go along with a stellar .643 hitting percentage. Louise Olivera followed close behind with eight kills as she posted an .800 hitting percentage.
Ella Perry and
Brooke Sarahina anchored the setter spot as they combined for 31 assists and five aces.
Kimora McKechnie proved lethal with her serves as she recorded six aces.
Simpson looks to be back in action this week Sunday at 3 pm against Pacific Union College at the James M. Grant Center.
