KIRKLAND, Wash. - The men's soccer team dropped a nail-biter today against Northwest University on a late second-half goal.
The Eagles drew first blood late in the first half as Matthew Ludlow found the back of the net off an assist by Roland Ngoy.
The Red Hawks evened the score in the 60th minute as
Ariel Perez-Aviles scored the equalizer off an assist by
David Guerrero. This marked Perez-Aviles's first goal of the year, and Guerrero added to his team-leading third assist on the year.
With the score remaining tied within ten minutes left of play, the Eagles broke through and scored the game-winner off the foot of Ludlow as he notched the brace from the assist from Clayton Johnson.
After an even first half with both teams firing off six shots each, the Eagles held the offensive advantage in the second half as they outshot Simpson 9-3.
Julian Mejia suffered the loss in between the posts as he posted four saves. On the other side, Bailey Hopkins picked up the win as he tallied three saves.
The Red Hawks look to finish on a high note as they take on Evergreen State College on Sunday at 11 am to conclude their Washington road trip.
