REDDING, Calif. - The men's soccer team welcomed DII rival Jessup University today at the California Soccer Park for a Saturday Matinee game.
The story of the game revolved around the Red Hawks and Warriors' defense as they held each other in check.
The Red Hawks and Warriors each had their opportunities as a pair of shots off the foot of
Ariel Perez-Aviles nearly broke the scoreless game.
However, Jessup goalkeeper Curtis Lynch prevailed in the post as he tallied four saves, on his way to the tie. His counterpart,
Julian Mejia, played stellar between the posts as he earned the tie while preserving the clean sheet with five saves.
Mejia remained under heavy fire in the first half as the Warriors fired off 10 shots, as they outshot the Red Hawks 14-8 in the game.
During the contest, the officiating crew passed out five total cards as Simpson picked up four yellows in comparison to Jessup's one.
With the tie, Simpson moves to 0-2-1 on the year as they prepare for Lincoln and Bushnell next week.
