EUGENE, Ore. - The women's soccer team concluded its Oregon road trip with its second tie in as many days as they earned a 1-1 draw with Bushnell.
The Beacons drew first blood in the 30th minute as the Red Hawks committed a costly foul in the box to set up a Bushnell penalty kick. Bushnell's Briell Engle picked up her first goal of the year as it gave the Beacons the early lead.
The Red Hawks answered in the second half as
Raigan Brooks combined with Anahiu Gomez to score the equalizer. Brooks picked up her first goal in a Simpson Uniform as Gomez notched the assist.
However, neither team could find the back of the net for the game-winner as the Red Hawks and Beacons settled for a 1-1 draw.
The Beacons held the offensive edge as they outshot the Red Hawks 13-4, with Simpson's lone shot in the second half proving to be the most important shot as it found the back of the net off the foot of Brooks.
The officiating crew passed out eight yellow cards as Simpson accounted for seven cards.
Jenna Sosa picked up her second consecutive tie between the posts as she tallied four saves.
Simpson returns to action September 5th against Oregon Tech at 11 am at the California Soccer Park.
