Simpson takes the series from Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Red Hawks split the second day of play yesterday in Oregon as they took three-out-of-four from Warner Pacific.

Simpson dropped the first game of the day 6-4 and rebounded with a dominant 11-1 victory in game two.

Simpson jumped on the board early as they plated three runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Kassandra Soria and a two-run single by Nicolena Holen

The Knights plated one run in the bottom half of the inning as the Red Hawks added an insurance run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Grace Chojknacki.

But the Knights rallied in the fourth inning as they scored three times to tie the game, as Mailli Bode and Jordyn Rosario posted RBI knocks before a double-steal with runners on the corners pushed across the tying run.

Warner Pacific took the lead in the following inning as they plated two runs with Bode pushing across the go-ahead run and Skyler Groesbeck adding an insurance RBI single.

The Red Hawks went down in order in the final two innings to fall to the Knights 6-4 as Killi Makanai preserved the victory in the circle as she fired 4.0 innings of hitless softball.
