REDDING, Calif. - The Red Hawks hosted their first regular-season Beach Volleyball Conference Tournament today as they hosted Southern Oregon, Northwest, and the College of Idaho at the Redding Sports Complex.
The Red Hawks and Raiders took part in the first match of the day under the Redding sun.
The Raiders displayed true dominance as they proved to be one of the best beach programs in the nation, coming into the day ranked No. 4 in the latest coaches' poll.
Southern Oregon held the Red Hawks in check as they earned the clean 5-0 sweep by playing the minimum 10 sets, with Simpson's fourth pair of Kara Ann Oshiro and
Brooke Sarahina posting a team-high 16 points in a set.

The Red Hawks took the early 1-0 match lead as their fourth pair,
Kare Ann Oshiro and
Mackenzie Tataryn, took down Northwest's Addy Stone and Orianna Muliaga, 21-9 and 21-19.
The Eagles and Red Hawks exchanged match points as the Red Hawks tied the match score at 2-2 with a win from their first pair,
Brooke Sarahina and
Elizabeth Heath. Sarahina and Heath took the first set 21-16 before the Eagles pair, Kali Dransfeldt and Ava Hoy, tied the match with a 21-17 victory. But the Simpson pair prevailed as they took the third set 15-13.
The last match of the day proved to be the deciding game as the Red Hawks' fifth pair of
Kiersti Howell and
Sylus Moore drew first blood with a 22-20 first-set victory.
However, Trinity Godina and Sydney Bass answered back for the Eagles as they tied the match with a 22-20 victory. Godina and Bass edged Howell and Moore in a thrilling third set 15-11 victory to give the Eagles the 3-2 team victory over the Red Hawks.
The Red Hawks are back in action tomorrow as they take on the College of Idaho at noon and Northwest at 4 pm.
