REDDING, Calif. - The women's soccer team kicked off the season on the right foot as they took down Warner Pacific 1-0.
Senior
Chloe Tague kept the Knights keeper active as she fired the first four shots of the game, but could not find the back of the net.
However, the Knights' keeper committed a crucial foul on a time violation, which resulted in a free kick from right outside of the box.
Nadia Santiago picked up the first goal of the year as her free kick found the back of the net, as it went off the keeper's hands to give Simpson the lead in the 32nd minute.
The Simpson defense held the Knights' offense at bay as they held Warner Pac to just two shots in the first half.

Warner Pac outshot the Red Hawks in the second half 6-5, but
Iris Van Dalfsen had a stellar career debut between the posts.
Dalfen earned her first career win as she preserved the clean sheet while posting three saves.
Santiago owned the difference maker as she notched four shots with the game-winner coming in the 32nd minute.
The Red Hawks are back in action this Sunday as they take on Southern Oregon at 11 am.
