REDDING, Calif. - The California Pacific Conference announced the Dr. Jim Davies Male and Female Scholar Athletes of the Year yesterday afternoon. 

Recent Simpson graduate Drey Ubas earned the prestigious honor of being named the 2024-25 Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. 

Ubas had been a staple in the Red Hawks community over the past four years on and off the court. 

He had a stellar senior season as he joined the 1,000-points club while earning 1st Team All-Conference honors, All-Academic, and an NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete. 

The Dr. Jim Davies Award is presented each year to the Male and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. It is the highest award presented by the Cal Pac and is named in honor of Dr. Jim Davies. He served as the Eligibility Chair since the conference's inception in 1995.

Ubas is the first Red Hawk to receive this honor in Simpson University history as his presence in the community on and off the field will be dearly missed.
