IRVINE, Calif. - The Simpson men's soccer squad dropped its eighth game of the season in another close game, losing 2-1 to Westcliff University.
In a first half that was dominated by Westcliff, the Warriors only saw one of their 11 shots get passed Simpson's
Jacopo Trolese, who had another outstanding game with eight saves. A goal in the fifth minute was enough to put Westcliff ahead 1-0 at halftime.
In a gritty second half, Westcliff could not get past Trolese. In the 70th minute,
Jorge Saldana Sonora was assisted by
Adrien Martinez to tie the game up at 1-1.
Westcliff's pressure proved too much, as just two minutes later, Adi Vaknin scored the game-winner for the Warriors.
The Red Hawks move to 0-8-2 and 0-2-1 in conference play.
Simpson travels to Garden Grove, California, next, where they will take on the Stanton University Elks.
