MARSHALL, MO - Red Hawk wrestlers traveled to Marshall, Missouri this past weekend and wrestled in the Missouri Valley Invitational.
Over 50 teams wrestled on 10 mats in the two-day tournament.
William Schwertscharf, once again displayed his strength as a wrestler by finishing seventh in his 64-man bracket.
Schwertscharf scored three victories on the first day but lost to the eventual champion in the quarterfinals.Â
On the second day, he won his first match and then faced Bridger Hall (Up) and lost by riding time criteria with the score tide 5 to 5.
In his final match, he came back to dominate his opponent to place seventh place.
Tyler Diaz had a great tournament winning his first two matches before a loss forced him into the consolation round where he won two more matches before being eliminated.Â
Coach Forseth liked what he's been seeing from Diaz this season.Â
"Diaz wrestled tough in every match and is looking good his Senior year as we near the end of our season."
Other Red Hawk wrestlers making strong appearances were
Arthur Para,
Colton Silva, and
Tomas Jacobo.
The wrestling team will compete next Friday in San Francisco, where they will wrestle San Francisco State, Simon Fraser University, and Menlo College before getting ready to host the Cascade Conference regional championships on February 21 and 22nd at the Reading Civic Auditorium.
