FRESNO, Calif. - Simpson University's freshman and sophomore teams wrestled in the Bill Musick Invitational at Fresno City College on Saturday. It is known as the toughest JC tournament in California, and four Red Hawks were able to place.
Jay Everhart wrestled extremely tough and went 5 & 1 to place 5th. Everhart recorded all of his wins by pin.
Colton Silva was able to score four victories to put him in the finals, where he lost 8-6 and took 2nd place.
David Rapp wrestled hard but was injured in the semi-finals and had to settle for 4th place.
Benjamin Vega-Sanchez went undefeated on the weekend. He won his semi-final match 2-0 over Jonathan Garcia (BC, the #1 ranked wrestler in California and then breezed to the Championship with a pin in the finals.

The Simpson Wrestling team wrestled at Fresno State University in the Veteran Day Duals on Sunday and won their bracket, going 5-0 over the following teams: UC Riverside, Utah Tech, San Jose State University, UNLV and Fresno State University.
It was a long and grueling weekend, but the wrestlers were able to have success both days. However, no championship dual took place due to time constraints.
The Simpson Wrestlers will face Sacramento City College this coming Wednesday at 7 pm in the James M. Grant Center for its Senior Night match.
