CORBIN, Ken. - The men's wrestling team concluded the calendar year in the Battle in the Bluegrass hosted by the University of the Cumberlands. 

The Red Hawks had a good showing at the Battle in the Bluegrass as they finished 4th place out of 16 teams. Simpson also placed ahead of four other nationally ranked teams. 

Simpson placed eight wrestlers, as David Rapp (197), Ben Mitchell (165), and Benjamin Vega-Sanchez (285) highlighted the squad by placing ahead of their nationally ranked opponents. 

Tomas Jacobo had a strong showing as he placed 3rd in the 149 lb class, and Carlos Martinez, Jay Everhart, William Schwertscarf, and Phoenix Cruz rounded out the eight placers. 

The Red Hawks are back in action January 4th as they take part in the Mat Cat Open in McMinnville, OR.
