REDDING, Calif. - The women's soccer squad concluded its home stand today against Cascade opponent Oregon Tech.
The Owls drew first blood in the ninth minute on a free kick that found the back of the net on a well-placed header.
The Owls added an insurance goal in the 37th minute off a sliding OIT attacker to take the 2-0 lead.
Simpson goalie Kiah Grifley had a busy first half as she notched five saves as the Owls outshot the Red Hawks 10-2.
The Simpson defense tightened down in the second half as they held the Owls off the board.
Simpson looked to rally in the second half as they outshot the Owls 5-4 but were unable to find the back of the net.
Taylor Brooks came close to putting the Red Hawks on the board in the final minutes but her shot went just wide right of the goal.
Kiah Gridley recorded six saves on the day but took the loss in the post to push her season record to 2-2.
Even though the Red Hawks could not find the back of the net Alyssa Grevino,
Claire Brown, and Denise Elias-Martnez each picked up a shot on goal.
Simpson looks to bounce back next week on Saturday, Sept. 21st at 6 pm against Dominican University of California at the California Soccer Park.
